The two-week CadetsPlus training has finally drawn to a close. This experience has been a treasure trove of growth, enriching both my professional journey and personal life.

On the very first day of the course, we kicked off with self- introductions. This session served as a window to get an initial glimpse into the lives of my fellow trainees. It was also a valuable opportunity for me to introduce myself in English. The warm applause from my classmates and the encouraging words from the teachers were like a shot in the arm, significantly boosting my confidence in speaking the language. Once we had acquainted ourselves, the formal classes commenced. The course content was impressively diverse. Teachers Hisham Amir and Tan covered a wide array of topics, encompassing interpersonal relationships on board, self - improvement, cultural differences, ship safety, and international conventions.

Over the course of these two weeks, I gained profound insights into how to perceive cultural differences among various countries and the distinctiveness of each individual. Above all, respect emerged as the cornerstone. Respecting others and different cultures is the fundamental step in forging amicable relationships. This principle extends far beyond our life on the ship; it is intricately linked to our work as well. A conducive working environment hinges on seamless cooperation among team members. Nurturing positive interpersonal relationships can transform our life on the ship into a more comfortable and enjoyable experience, while also enhancing the efficiency of our work. Secondly, I came to realize that the enhancement of personal professional skills is non- negotiable. It is not only a prerequisite for career advancement on the ship but also a crucial safeguard for ship safety. Finally, and in my view, the most critical aspect is safety. It is an eternal theme, a responsibility and mission that every crew member must etch deeply in their minds. Without safety, all other aspects lose their meaning. Through engaging teaching methods such as videos and group discussions, the two teachers enabled me to develop a comprehensive understanding of safety. The heart- stopping scenes in the videos were eye- opening, and the diverse experiences shared during group discussions made me acutely aware of the importance of safety. Simultaneously, the teachers expounded on how to identify "hazards" and "risks" and provided practical methods and approaches to mitigate risks, all of which were of great benefit to me.

On the final day, we participated in a mental health training session led by the seasoned instructor, Teacher KK. Through his insightful guidance, I gained a clearer perspective on how to confront my emotions and regulate my mental state. I believe this training couldn't have come at a more opportune time. As I am about to embark on my journey on board and face a new environment alone, it equips me with the tools to approach the challenges with a more positive and healthy mindset.

Beyond the enriching in- class content, this training also offered a vibrant after- class life. I feel incredibly fortunate to have met such amazing people and had unforgettable experiences within just over ten days. After class, we would take leisurely walks along the paths bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun, sharing our dreams and aspirations. In the dormitory, we provided solace and support to one another. Their presence made me realize that facing the unknown alone is not just a daunting challenge; there are always people and experiences worth anticipating. It alleviated my apprehensions about going on board and instead filled me with eagerness to meet new people and embrace diverse experiences.

The fulfilling and engaging training life made time seem to fly by. In the blink of an eye, two weeks had passed. At the final dinner, I was almost in a state of disbelief. It wasn't until we raised our glasses in a toast that the finality of the training truly sank in. Although we were all filled with a sense of reluctance to part ways, we knew that we had to move forward. Even though the training has ended, the knowledge imparted by the teachers is timeless, and I will cherish and apply it throughout my career. I am confident that this training has equipped me to face challenges with greater composure. It will enable me to become a proficient seaman and achieve the success I strive for.
